Dead Bugs

This series explores my relationship and imagined boundaries with the outside world. The building I reside in creates a physical barrier and an illusionary perimeter that defines my sovereignty apart from the organisms on the “outside.” But at what cost to them and to me?

Each painting depicts a dead bug, one that I have found in my daily experience or a specimen of a species recently extinct. I consider each equally and try not to distinguish the commonly found species from the disappeared ones.

This project is ongoing and my aim is create over 100 individual painted specimens.
